Programs

Three distinct programs are offered:
The International Workcamps Program places volunteers in short (2-3 week) international workcamps, most of which take place during the summer. Groups of international volunteers live and work together on projects that benefit local communities and voluntary organizations.
The M/LTV (Medium/Long-Term Volunteer) program places volunteers 21 years and older in 3 to 12 month projects.
The Teenage Working Group: Enables young people (age 16-19) from areas of high unemployment to join in short-term voluntary work exchanges from European countries.

Qualifications

Generally, you have to be at least 18 years old to participate in the workcamps in Northern countries (Europe, US ...), and 21 for developing countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa. Long term volunteers need to be at least 21 years old. There is no upper age limit except where a project states specific age requirements.

Applicants must apply through the SCI branch in the country in which they reside.

Financial Arrangements

Each branch of the SCI has it's own fee schedule. SCI Catalunya's fee is 126 Euro. Some short term project hosts ask for an additional contribution to their cause. You must arrange and pay for transportation to and from the project.
