Floresta has programs in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Oaxaca, Mexico. They partner with local communities who have a goal of self-sufficiency. Volunteers of Floresta's overseas programs usually spend about one week in-country and assist with a variety of community projects.
Conditions in third world countries can be very demanding. Participants should be in excellent health and have a taste for adventure. Generally speaking, we prefer volunteers be between 18 and 60 yrs. old and have valid passports. Experience may vary.
Financial arrangements vary. None of the volunteer opportunities with Floresta are subsidized. All travel and expenses must be paid for by the volunteer. Usually, the participant should expect to spend between $1,000 and $2,000 for a 7 to 9 day trip.
